ITOCHU Corporation together with Family Mart to support the educational environment of coffee producing areas;
Itochu Corporation and Family Mart are working jointly to support schools in some coffee-producing areas of Ethiopia, aiming to improve the level of the education and the hygienic environment through the construction of lavatories and the purchase and distribution of teaching materials.
Accordingly, on May 22, 2024, H.E. Ambassador Daba Debele, Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Japan, visited Family Mart headquarter and sales center, along with representatives from Itochu Corporation and Family Mart. Ambassador Daba complimented Itochu Corporation and Family Mart, for their intended contribution to the schools in coffee producing areas of Ethiopia. Furthermore, Ambassador has highlighted the importance of the support in ensuring sustainable coffee production.
The money will be collected from Mocha Coffee sales, which will be sold at FAMIMA CAFÉ stores between 02 April to 03 June 2024. As a result, one Japanese yen from each coffee sale sold for two months will be collected and used for its intended purpose, the company announced.
