Embassy of Ethiopia in Tokyo celebrated the 5th National Flag day on Sunday 28, 2012 at the residence of Ambassador with presence of Ethiopian community living in Japan and students following their study in different Universities of Tokyo.
The celebrations started with a speech delivered by H.E Ambassador Markos Tekle, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Japan. Ambassador Markos Tekle said the celebration of National Flag Day is a manifestation of all Ethiopians moving towards eliminating poverty. In his speech, he also pointed out the major economic and social activities undertaken by the Government and results achieved so far to improve the lives of Ethiopian people. He called on all diaspora members who took part in the event to actively play their part in supporting development endeavors irrespective of political differences. He also thanked community members who have bought bond and urged all to lend their hand until the realization of Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam whose work is being accelerated day and night. The community members of Ethiopia residing in Tokyo expressed their commitment to contribute their share towards speeding up ongoing developments. The Ethiopian National Anthem was played and the National Flag hoisted during the event.
